Orientation

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

Orientation began a week before classes officially started on February 3rd. The orientation activities consisted of presentations given about the school, exams, housing, and much more. On top of this, they had sightseeing tours and a campus tour conducted by some local CBS students. I sadly was unable to attend both of the tours as my class schedule clashed with the orientation schedule, but only great things were said about the site visits.

Copenhagen Business School in itself has a “WOW” factor to it. The building’s architecture is so modern and beautiful. It is mesmerizing. They do a great job managing and maintaining their facilities and definitely have some great resources available for students attending the university.

Something that I’ve noticed about schools in Europe is that they have great social packages for every incoming group of students. This allows people to get to broaden their connections and enjoy themselves. The social package for our orientation week looked like this:

All of our social events were organized by local students at CBS. The nighttime events were really great as ice breakers, and everyone I’ve met so far has been unbelievably friendly and outgoing. As exchange students, we truly do have a different mindset coming into University abroad. On the one hand, we’re all starting our friendships from scratch. It’s like coming into orientation for freshman year of university and feeling anxious and nervous. However, it’s different because everyone’s already been through that, and everyone on an exchange is there for the same reason: to make new connections and explore and learn about a place that is completely new to us. It’s such a healthy and easy environment where people are a lot more open to getting to know one another and, I feel like I’ve made a home for myself abroad already.
